Hydrant Flushing Season is Underway
As warmer weather approaches, you may notice Oldham County Water District crews out in your neighborhood flushing hydrants. This routine maintenance is an important part of keeping our water system running smoothly.

Why We Flush Hydrants

Hydrant flushing helps remove natural sediment buildup in the water mains, which improves water clarity and ensures we continue delivering safe, high-quality water to your home.

What to Expect During Flushing
During this process, you might temporarily notice slightly discolored water or a brief drop in water pressure. This is normal and should clear up quickly. If your water appears discolored, simply run cold water from the faucet for a few minutes until it runs clear. This discoloration is harmless and is typically caused by naturally occurring minerals and sediments, which do not affect the safety of water consumption.

We appreciate your patience as we work to maintain the quality and reliability of your water service!
